Projects Synopsis
- BMPL provided the end to end services including reselling of the Oracle licenses and the Oracle Implementation..
- We have Implemented E-Business Suite 12.2.5
- The applications implemented were Oracle Financials, Oracle Purchasing, Oracle Inventory with extensions for accurate Inventory management, Advanced Pricing, Order Management and custom built integration with the Point of Sales (POS).
Business Drivers
The customer has 25 Showrooms and 3 Warehouses for centralized procurement and 4 regional/local warehouses for local distribution.
The goods are sourced from across the country from a supplier base of approximately 3000 active suppliers.
The customer wanted to enforce effective control on the procurement and Inventory management. This meant that they have a very robust Inventory Management that allowed tracking every item /SKU to the last unit.
Solution
Bazaar247 was engaged to carry out the preliminary analysis and came out with an end-to-end recommendation on the suitable solution.
As a part of tracking every item uniquely within the EBS as well as POS, we recommended the Serial control for every item (e.g.: Shirts, trousers etc.) and lot control for such items that were procured and sold in bulk (e.g.: Fabrics). At any point in time, the customer has approximately 30 million unique Serial numbers across the warehouses and 25 showrooms.
Each showroom was configured as an Inventory Organization in EBS.
The Uniqueness was maintained across the Inventory Organizations.
At the time of receipt of goods into the Inventory, the unique serial numbers were generated, the items were priced based on the pricing logic and the unique Barcode labels were printed from Oracle EBS.
All further movement of the goods were based on this unique serial number generated. This ensured that every piece of tradeable goods could be tracked precisely across the organization.
We had developed critical add-on functionality to automate the movement of the goods across the warehouses and showrooms. This was developed as an add-on layer on top of the Inter-Org functionality within Oracle.
The Taxation was another critical requirement on this project. BMPL configured the Value added tax, Central Sales Tax , Tax Deducted at Source, Works Contract Tax & Service Tax for this customer and integrated this with Purchase Pricing and Sales Pricing.
Project Methodology
The Process requirement was provided by the customer and BMPL carried out the process mapping on Oracle EBS. The Master data pertaining to the Items, Serial numbers, vendors and customers, were provided by the customer.
The Financials, SCM modules were configured on the test instance. The customer’s users tested the setup and transactions.
Upon sign-off, BMPL setup the production instance. Post go-live, the customer provided the Open transactions data and the same was uploaded.
Solution Impact
- The customer was able to control the procurement process and ensure that the suppliers supplied only those goods that were ordered.
- The customer was able to uniquely track the items across the entire supply chain from the time of procurement upto the sale of the item to the customer on the POS.
